Be

“Be the best you can be. Be loving. Be patient. Be understanding.” This is from one of the greatest leaders I have ever encountered, my Dad.

What I love about him, is how he shares what he has learned in the last 73 years of his life by being that with me. Not in an authoritative way, or in a commanding way. The strongest message he has ever communicated to me in his life was him being this with me.

We spoke for what felt like hours, realistically 60 minutes, face to face, and in this time he communicated who he was by being that.

It was not “do the best you can do.”

It was not “do love” or “do patience,” nor was it “do understanding.” He said “be.”

He showed me with his presence how to be.

Being it, will allow for the doing, the doing will allow for the having.
